Welcome to The West Cork 200
It will be held on Sunday 22nd June 2013
Registration will open at 6.30am and we intend to have everyone on the road by 7.00am.
The route for the 200 and 100 will be similar to last year, but this year we will also introduce a 150KM route. This is in response to a considerable demand. The full details of the 3 routes are now on our web site.
The main problems identified last year were:
- Inadequate briefing of the routes.
- Delays in getting served at Durrus ( main food stop).
- No food available at finish.
- More signs needed on routes.
Be assured that these issues will be addressed this year.
The Ethiopian Deaf Project:
The Ambo Ramble Cycle Event
The aim of the Cycle is to raise funds for The Ethiopian Deaf Project which is currently
building a school / centre for deaf Children in Ambo in Ethiopia.
Everyone is aware of the situation in Ethiopia but for the Deaf Children it is much worse. Unable to communicate with family and the community, no prospect of an education, their future is extremely bleak. For most families a Deaf child is seen as a curse from God and often hidden from the community.
This is where the school will come in, the children will be taught to sign, how to communicate and get an education. Family and communities will be taught how to communicate with the children, that they are not to be feared. In short, They will get a LIFE.
